Sports Therapy and Sports Massage

Electrotherapy 

All work to speed up the rate of healing:
  • Laser Therapy 
    Used on open wounds (inc. post op), vascular tissues, superficial muscle tears, tendon sheathing (e.g. Tennis elbow), pain relief, nerves, trigger points.

  • Therapeutic Ultrasound
    Used on tendons (tears/ruptures), ligaments (knee/ ankle etc), scar tissue (to encourage breakdown), increasing elasticity of scar tissue, reduces risk of adhesion formation, pain relief, restart the healing process.

  • Interferential Treatment 
    Pain relief, increase local blood flow, reduce swelling.

  • Pulsed Short Wave Therapy 
    ​​Used on oedemas, inflammation, haematomas, nerves, muscles (research also shows successful use in Osteoarthritis, in particular osteoarthritic knees).

Muscle Stimulation

  • Used post injury to rebuild the muscle

Pre & Post Event Massage 

  • Pre-event warm up, preparing the body for exercise, reducing injury risk
  • Post-event cool down. Helping to prevent the lactic acid pooling around the body, creating DOMS

Cryo & Thermal Therapy 

  • Ice- reduce inflammation and pain

  • Reducing tightness and shortness of muscles, stretching the fascia to create easier movement - caused by overuse/ trauma of the myofascia that covers your muscles
